Food For Thought...!

Publishers & retailers sell millions of copies of new books every year – where do they all go too? Almost every household in Britain has at least a dozen books, which are sat in cupboards or on shelves that will never be picked up again – it’s time for that clear out!

How much space do the books in your house take up? Are they an eye sore in the lounge? Falling out of the bedroom cupboard to meet you? Or just taking up space in the attic or garage?

Every year, millions of books from homes and businesses just like yours make the trip to landfill sites throughout the UK. That enough to leave a giant carbon footprint! A full 25%  of the UK’s waste every year is generated in the form of paper!


Recycling is kinder to our environment, because it means making fewer new things from raw materials. Other methods of disposal, like incinerating, bulk dumping and landfill, all have a negative impact on our planet. This causes pollution by smoke, gas and ash, as well as producing harmful cancer causing dioxins.

Recycling helps us pass books back into the community, to schools, hospitals and registered charitable organisations.
